Hi, I'm Rob Clarke with Coldwell Banker Realty, and this is Probate Video #1. Let's start with the basics of what probate means from a real estate perspective. Probate is the legal process that takes place after someone passes away. It's how the court oversees the distribution of assets, including real estate. If a home is involved, it usually cannot be sold until the probate process begins and an authorized person, often called the executor or personal representative, is given the legal authority to act on behalf of the estate.
